Useful Links when starting your Studies
At the beginning of your studies, it’s easy to quickly lose your way in the digital jungle of the university. That’s why we’ve put together this brief overview of the most important websites and resources.
Websites rund um die Studiumsorganisation
HeiCo
HeiCo should already be familiar to you; it’s Heidelberg University’s central student administration website.
Here, among other things, you can…
- view your academic record
- download important documents (certificate of enrollment/academic record, transcript of records)
- check the status of your semester tuition payment
register for courses and their exams
Note: For math, physics and computer science courses, registering with HeiCo alone is often not enough. As a rule, for math courses you must also register with “Müsli” and “Mampf,” and for physics courses with “Phü.” This is explained in more detail below.

Phü – Physikalisches Übungsgruppensystem
Phü provides an overview of the courses offered by the Physics Department and allows students to register for tutorials. You can also view exercise sheets, corrected assignments, and corresponding scores here.
MaMpf – Mathematischen Medienplattform
MaMpf, also known as the Mathematical Media Platform, is the backbone of every good math lecture. Here you’ll find the lecture notes and exercise sheets, as well as additional materials such as lecture recordings, quizzes, and self-tests.
Müsli – Mathematisches Übungsgruppen- und Scheinlisten-Interface
Müsli is also used by mathematicians and serves as the organizational component of a math course. Here, you can select tutorials and view worksheets and exam results for courses.
If your university email account hasn’t been linked to an email client, you can view the emails sent to your university address here. Professors and teaching assistants often send important organizational notices to your university email address, so it’s worth checking it regularly.

Student Council /Fachschaft Math/Phys/Info
If you have any questions, problems, or other concerns, we — as the student council — are happy to assist you and are often your first point of contact. You can find a lot of information about your studies and coursework on our website. Most importantly, however, you’ll find the precourse/Vorkurs schedule and all the important information about the precourse/Vorkurs here.
Studierendenwerk
The Studierendenwerk serves as a one-stop shop for many other aspects of student life. There, you can apply for BAFöG, get added to a waiting list for a spot in a dorm, or top up your Campuscard to pay for your next lunch. The Studierendenwerk also offers a wide range of counseling services related to your studies.
The URZ provides assistance with all technical matters. You’ll find many useful guides, ranging from setting up Wi-Fi to creating your own cloud storage. For example, the URZ provides every student with 10 GB of cloud storage via HeiBox. The best thing to do is simply browse through the services the URZ offers.
